Who we are

This site is run by James Bassitt, who keeps the bees and sells the honey. You can contact us at james@bassitt.co.uk.

What we collect, and why

Honey reservations. When you reserve jars, we ask for your name, email address, how many jars you want and, if you like, a phone number and a note. We use these only to hold your jars and arrange collection. The form sends them to us by email. We delete reservation emails 12 months after you collect.

Hive sponsorships. If you sponsor a hive, or ask about hives on your land, we get your name, email address and the sponsorship you've chosen, plus, if you give them, a phone number, a business name, the name for a certificate, how you'd like the honey and a message. We keep these to run the sponsorship and send your updates, and we delete them a year after the sponsorship ends. If we need a postal address for a certificate or honey, we ask for it by email.

Swarm reports. If you report a swarm, we get your name, how to reach you, where the swarm is (including your phone's location, if you choose to share it) and any photo you send. The report comes to us by email, and a short summary is sent to James's phone as a text message. We use this only to come and collect the bees.

Spam protection. To stop the forms being flooded, we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address, never the address itself. It's used only to limit how many messages one visitor can send in an hour.

What we don't do

We don't use cookies, visitor tracking, advertising trackers or social media pixels. We don't sell or share your details. The only other organisations involved are our web and email host, IONOS, which stores the site and delivers our email, and ClickSend, which delivers the swarm text messages.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email james@bassitt.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
