Pure honey from our bees, in our garden.

Nothing added, nothing taken away. Our bees make it from the gardens, hedges and parks around us. We spin it, strain it and jar it by hand.

Extraction day

From the hive to the jar

Three wooden honey supers stacked on the kitchen range, full of capped comb.
1Supers off the hiveFull boxes of honey come off the hives and wait in the kitchen. Each one is heavy.
A frame of honeycomb sealed with pale wax cappings, lifted out of a honey super.
2Capped and readyThe bees seal ripe honey under wax lids. We slice the cappings off to open the cells.
An uncapped frame in the extractor's steel cage, glistening with honey.
3Spun outThe frames spin in the extractor. Honey flies out of the cells and runs down the drum.
Honey running through a fine sieve into a white bucket fitted with a honey gate.
4StrainedA fine sieve catches bits of wax. The honey settles in the bucket for a day or two.
Rows of freshly filled honey jars with gold lids lined up on a kitchen worktop, the honey clear and amber.

Hive Mind

Watch the bees forage Newton Abbot

A living map of the town around our hives, with its real streets, gardens, woods and hills. Thousands of bees scout, dance and recruit through a whole year. Zoom in and time slows down to bee speed. Plant something and watch the scouts find it.

It's a model, not a camera: the hive on the map sits near our garden, not in it.
